  i think bush's method of fighting terrorism only creates more terrorism.

  maybe his over reaction to terrorism as seen by having Iraq invaded on unverified reports (rumors), that they have weapons of mass destructions was motivated by his own insecurities and fears that he might be the next target.

  or maybe Bush honestly believed that he was doing the right thing, however instead of listening to the advice of the military (Gen Shinsecki who said we need to go in with a force of 450,000 to stabalize the country after we take Hussein out) he listened to a civilian, Defense Secretary Rumsfeld. It could be as simple as he made a terrific strategic miscalculation.

  i want to thank everyone here for all the help and kind words offered to me as i adjust to having worth.

  i guess i have a long way to go and i guess i'm going to have to go and see a counselor like someone else suggested.. no matter how hard i work or what i accomplish, i still feel so ugly and i'm still afraid of the stupidest things.

  i don't know if my fears are on par with paranoia, but they are definitely distracting and i need to get some outside assistance.. the good news is that around here, with people who've gone through the same, i feel better.

  No matter how hard I work or what I accomplish, I still feel so ugly and I'm still afraid of the stupidest things. I don't know if my fears are on par with paranoia, but they are definitely distracting and I need to get some outside assistance.

  Seeing fear for what it is and being able to put it in its proper context is something that we all constantly deal with. We all have fear. Most of my bad decisions, were made, as a result of fear. Usually, the bad decisions were fueled by a fear of losing something that I already had...my business, the lifestyle I've provided for family, the respect of family and peers. Now, when I am afraid....I see it as a wake up call and try to address it in a productive manner instead of ignoring it or letting it grow into a three headed monster. I begin that process by acknowledging that I am afraid, then asking myself what am I afraid of losing? I guess my point is that it is a lifelong struggle. The fact that you have fear, just makes you normal. In my experience, the way you deal with fear is what determines the degree of peace that you experience in your day to day life.   As far as having anarchist leaning this may be true but only in so far as I am against governments forcing people to comply to "all" there edicts. I realize we need some form of government, but do not feel the need to let the government dictate to me in matters I consider strictly personal choice, and definately feel the US as well as other types of government get way to envovled in matters that should be strictly personal choice. I think of myself more as a free thinker, and willing to comply with governmental request I consider reasonable and for the wellfare of others but not resticting it to just the welfare of those of a particular nation but all of humanity.

  What government allows you to pick and choose what edicts you want to follow and what edicts you don't? What governments have a system where the individual liberties of the individual are recognized? In a way, I think the US is most suitable to your way of thinking.

  There is no draft, so you can object to the war without actually being forced to go to war. (regardless of how you feel about the military)

  As a citizen, you have the ability to start or participate in grass roots campaigns that can eventually lead to legislation. Civil Rights Laws, MADD, Amber Alert Law, etc...

  If you disagree with the President's or any other politicians way of handling things, you can vote them out of office. There are no Presidents for life.

  So, recognizing that we need some form of government, (your words)..... what government represents the closest match to your ideology?

  But you see, that's right out of the Ian Fleming novel....

  Leolaia, Why is being corrected by you so pleasurable?

  One more thing from my stand corrected rant....it will be seen as nitpicking, I know. When you play cards like that and you go all in, all the other players followed protocol and carefully pushed there chips in (so that they remain stacked) but for dramatic effect, Bond pushed his chips in so they went flying all over the place like a sissy. Anyone who has played serious cards knows that it's protocol not to do that, because the winner doesn't want to sit there for ten minutes sorting and restacking the chips. It delays the game. I know you are going to say that it was at the end of the game , so it doesn't matter, but he did it on the first big pot as well. My point it wasn't professional form....Kind of like my initial ignorance based rant. OK Leolaia fire away.

  It is possible to be against propaganda and slogans designed to stop-think and not be "anti-American".

  Nobody called anyone "anti-american".

  The original poster may make a good point to begin with, but he then quickly adds a myriad of other opinions, including that anyone joining the military is braindead. Is he an anarchist? I don't know. If that is his view of politics, then everything he says makes sense. But then you read all of his comments, and you realize that he is not an anarchist, he's just presents an anarchist's views when it comes to the US.

  Some people prefer to have a healthy skepticism and not swallow hook, line and sinker everything they're fed from elementary school on about their government and its actions, including the songs we were taught like "God Bless America", etc.

  I think most people should and do.

  And being against this illegal war doesn't make a person pro muslims or terrorists either. That's just a black and white propaganda slogan of if you're not for the war you're against Americans. And it's pure BS and pure Bushism too.

  That was George Bush talking, not the military.

  Iraq was no threat to the US. So how are the soldiers fighting over there fighting for "our freedom"? And why should we be grateful to them for killing people in a country that posed no threat to us anyway?

  The military was sent into Iraq by Pres Bush with the approval of Congress. If you are against the war, then why not direct that anger and frustration at the people who sent the troops in to begin with, not the troops themselves. The military didn't start the war. Our military is made up of many professional, dedicated soldiers. Calling them brain-dead is not accurate in my opinion, and shows a lot of disrespect. It is possible to be grateful for our military and opposed to the war in Iraq. I'm not quite sure why this viewpoint, that I feel a lot of Americans share, is so difficult to grasp without descending into calling people brain-dead.

  My 19 year old son said it best....blasphemy!

  If you haven't seen the movie....read no further.

  We came out of the movie theater shaking our heads in disbelief. The first half was excellent. The beginning chase scene...very well done. The new Bond two big thumbs up....then the movie morphed into the decline of Western Civilization. There were a few things with Bond that we could always count on. First and foremost, the women, the audience, the director always understood that the job as a spy came before everyone and everything.....after all its JAMES BOND.....not Dr. Phil ...Jesus, Mary and Joseph what is the world coming to? First he tells her he loves her, then he tells her he's going to give up being a spy for her? Then he does it.

  WTF....I understand the women liking it, but as a guy who has seen every Bond film twice....blasphemy!

  Because the coast guard is considered part of the military, and preforms some benificial services, hardly recomends those joining the US military as following some higher call, to me it is just propaganda designed to encourage support for the US war machine just like the slogans to serve God and Country, or the often repeated propaganda found in song "God Bless America Land of the Free". It is all bull shit.

  I'm not suggesting that you refer to it as a higher calling and I'm not suggesting that every person that puts on a uniform does it because of a higher calling. There are those that do it as part of their family tradition.There are those who join as a practical means to get their education paid for. There are those who do it because it provides a good alternative to living in poverty. In my experience, there are a great many that do it because of a sense of duty, or higher calling. We do not have a draft. It is a volunteer force. Everyone who joined had a choice.

  I mentioned the coast guard because I thought that it was heroic that they saved a few thousand Americans. I had a friend who was embedded with them during their rescues. She marvelled at how dedicated and professional they were and how they would go nearly round the clock until the mission was completed.

  Have you ever heard "God Bless America" sung acapella by a really good vocalist? Brings tears to your eyes and puts a lump in your throat.

  if you google the words impeach, bush, and cheney, you will get about 1,600,000 hits.

  even on the radio there is talk about the need to start the impeachment process.

  Seriously, most people, lost faith in the President and the Congress, and voted Democrat, not because they had a message, but because a change was needed. They do not want this country taken back down the impeachment road. The easiest way for the Dems to lose the majority is to impeach the President. This could be especially true if the Republicans run a strong Presidential candidate that can galvanize the middle against the Dems.

  i think it's hilarious that when you post facts there is still always someone arguing it.. makes you want to stop bothering if people don't want to learn.. but then again my family has only been in the truth for 100 years so what would i know?.
